一、by后接时间点，多表示“到何时为止动作已完成”；例如：
- By last year, the Yellowstone wolf population had grown to more than 170 wolves. 截至去年，黄石国家公园中狼的数量已经增加到了170多只。
- By the end of the sixth grade,Teddy had become one of the smartest children in the class. 到六年级结束时，特迪已成为班上最聪明的孩子之一。
二、till/until用在肯定句中时，表示“直到……为止”; 用在否定句中时，表示“直到……才”；例如：
- I went to the Red-headed Club’s office at 10 am and stayed till 2 pm. 我上午10点去了红发会的办公室，并一直待到下午2点。
- They told her to stay still until the emergency personnel arrived. 他们告诉她要在紧急救援人员到达之前保持不动。
- I did not realize how right my parents were until I entered high school. 直到进入了高中，我才意识到我父母当时的做法是多么正确。
